ANALOG MISSIONARY NEWS
7/17/08 (Mobile, AL) Analog Missionary, a South-Eastern US-based art-rock band, will be performing on August 9th at the Mary O'Keefe Cultural Center Theater in Ocean Springs, MS- accompanied by bellydancing and featuring local artists displaying their works on the premises. The art can be viewed beginning Saturday afternoon, and the band's musical performance will begin at 7:30 pm.
The show is the first in a series the band hopes to bring to the Gulf Coast, combining cinematic art-rock with multi-media presentations while also showcasing the works of regional artists. Instead of the typical smoky music venues, the band has long sought locations to present their shows in a more suitable environment, unhindered by less-than-ideal acoustics and constricting space limitations. Thanks to the cooperation of the Mary O'Keefe Cultural Center, the band is happy to present their first "mini-festival"-style show.
the Vermillion Magazine wrote, "Analog Missionary is like no band you've ever seen– say goodbye to screamo and hello to orchestral/progressive rock that doesn't blow your eardrums but blows your mind with music rich in substance, complete with belly dancing to keep all of your senses alive. " Utilizing unusual instrumentation such as the Theremin (a primitive synthesizer that does not require contact with the instrument) and Chapman Stick (a multi-range stringed instrument combining the range of a 5-string bass and a 7-string guitar) and middle-eastern influences, the show promises to be a unique experience for the Gulf Coast.
